I think you make a good point. I've never read anything in the Bible about God or Jesus referring to themselves as Christians. I suppose the label of "Christian", is used in reference to those who follow an organized religion or church that worships their own version of Jesus Christ.

You are correct. A Christian is defined as a follower of Christ. Jesus was born a Jew, and was considered a Jew. It was his statement that he was Lord, the Messiah that outraged the Pharisees at the time.

Jews and Gentiles that believed Jesus Christ was the Messiah - started calling themselves Christians.

An interesting point to add: Thousands of Jews stopped years of traditions and rituals which they thought would bring them salvation after Jesus preached for just 3 years. Sounds like something only from God could have that impact...

A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ the Lord and a human being. Since Jesus Christ the Lord is God and a follower is human, of course God is not a mere human being.

To me "Christian" is just a title. In itself, it has no power other than to categorize a group of people that believe in a central idea about God. Just like we are called Humans. Titles aren't important, the title isn't the highlight of the belief in Jesus as The Christ or the Son of God. Shakespeare said it best "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

You finally said something intelligent, God has no religion, and Jesus was a Jew. Christianity is believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
