They are so special because they can jump out and woop your ***, you fool! They can suffer any bullet wounds. Shoot em and see, 20 bullets into their head doesn't make any difference.

My daughters best friend husband is a Navy Seal, and graduated in the top 2% of his class., and he admits how tough they have to be, but in the same breath he will tell all that the Special Forces is the "GIANT'' in our Armed Forces. They are only the best of the best when it comes to the trained"Army",Navy,or Air Force, because they can do it all, and thats why they are called Special Forces. They can go in & out of a country so quietly, and quick, and never be detected. It takes a tough guy or woman to get into the Special Forces, because of their rigorous training in shooting, swimming, flying, etc, the list goes on and on., and oh yes snipers is their speciality!!

Navy SEAL training-
Navy Boot Camp: 8 weeks
BUD/S(considered the toughest military training in the world): 5 weeks of indoc plus 26 weeks of actual training, 31 weeks total.
Jump school: 3 weeks
SQT: 15 weeks
Total: 15 months of training followed by 18 months of advanced training leading up to their first deployment.
That is why special forces are so special. Sure a bullet kills them just like any human, but you have to find them first.

The sniper can only shoot them if they see them before they are dead. My son is an Army Ranger & the training was grueling.
I tease him because they are taught to be able to snap a person's neck, & break arms & legs. I always say "do not hurt me - I give up" ( LOL - private joke )He was airborne trained, mountain climbing, sniper trained, & explosives trained & etc.,etc.,etc. They trained him for 20 months - he is a Ranger & an Officer. He graduated with honors from a great university & his best friend was a Harvard graduate attorney. The sniper better be ready for the fight of his life. My son has promised me that he will fight with all his training to come home safe to his wife, daughters & his Dad & I He is special.
All Special Ops are dedicated, well trained, & the elite of the
Military.

@Curt and others, SEAL’s is not Special Forces, just as Special Forces is not SEAL’s. Both however are Special Operation Forces (SOF), see the difference?
All SOF whether they are Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines are special in the sense that they have rigorous selection and training and are trained for specialized missions.

And an artilery round kills a hiding sniper,so whats your point.when you say special forces do you mean special operations in general or U.S. Army Special Forces in particular, because they are not commandos as much as they are teachers, they are sent in to organize and train and "ADVISE".But as to what makes them special, most are bi-lingual,they have higher than average GT (general trainability) scores(army version of IQ) they are in top physical shape.

EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!
They work in smaller groups, and must score higher on mental and physical tests. SOF they must know how to adapt to certain cultures, like Afganistan. I have a freind there now, that is actually working with the taliban, and is under cover with them. If he was to get caught, he would for sure be killed, every aspect of SF is special.

My husband is going to go for selections eventually. I think guys are drawn to it because it's "high speed." They are in smaller groups, get more freedom, and work very secretively. I think it is as close as you can get to being a military FBI. At least that's how I see it.
