done it many times (during the day)...it is a long walk. wear comfortable shoes.

of course its safe. you are in the center of the world, where there are people walking around 24/7.....
it will take about 1 hour though.. its like 2.5 -3 miles apart.
you can actually take the #6 train from grand central, downtown to canal street (chinatown) about 9 minutes on the subway for $2.00 and then walk like 10 blocks south to the WTC. its fun. you'll see. enjoy NYC!!

At any time of day or night - YES.
My wife and I walked from Carnegie Hall all the way to NYU and back - about 100 blocks total. She didn't like the subway and wore tennis shoes vs. my dress shoes.

Absolutely. The only thing is (no matter where you are in NYC or another metropolitan area) that you want to be very aware of your surroundings and your personal safety. There's no reason not to walk freely there, though.

Why wouldn't it be?...Unless you're doing it between 10:30 or 11 to 5:00, you should be fine.
