well in the 17th/18th century, Louis Pasteur disproved the idea of 'spontaneous generation'.. so maggots cannot spontaneously appear out of no where... the thing is that when we are not watching(and that is often), flies feed on garbage and such things. and when they do so, they lay their eggs in the garbage area so that when the eggs hatch, the larvae or maggots would have food to feed on, hence grow into adults. thats why it would seem that maggots spontaneously generate, but in actual fact they were eggs laid by adult flies...

They are the spawn of blowflies, which are the first insects on the scene (they can smell dead flesh from, literally, over a mile away). The blowflies lay eggs in various orifices of the body, and these hatch into maggots, which begin to feed on the body. Entomological evidence can, by the way, be very useful when it comes to a forensic investigation. Blowflies have a very predictable life cycle, and so the maggots can be used to determine when the victim died. The absence of maggots is also very telling, in that it can indicate that the victim was not placed in an environment where blowflies could get at the body.

All maggots are fly larvae. They hatch from eggs. There are none that appear spontaneously. I hope this helps.
