That's like giving someone a porn mag and telling him he can't look through it.

Adam got free will through his own effort, God rewarded him by sending him to heaven and giving him eve. Free will allowed Adam to realize God. Free will is what greatly distinguishes humans from apes, apes can't control their sexual urges but humans can, apes can't control their hunger, but humans can. Humans have free will, that is why they will be rewarded heaven for an abundance of good deeds and punished with eternal hell for an abundance of bad deeds, however they will be forgiven for bad deeds they truly repented for in their worldly life.

What is your question? God gave us the ability to make the right choices or the wrong. He wants us to make the right choices. You sound as though looking through a porn magazine is an irresistible temptation; it is not. And, really, you are better off not doing it. The temporary pleasure does not outweigh the negative consequences of unrealistic expectations, adulterous fantasies and a myriad of other downfalls that come from pornography.

Free will was given to us so that we would voluntarily choose to worship God. He wants us to choose Him, but He gives us the opportunity not to.

But God didn't give us a porn mag. He gave us creation, and he gave us life, and he gave us salvation.

Some people don't understand the authority and goodness of God. When you align your will with God's, you get untold, ineffable gifts--gifts that you can't conceive of when you are not with God.

Some people tend to think it's some sort of trade-off: Well, if I do God's will, that means that I won't get to do what I want. What these folks don't understand is that what we want is so paltry and ridiculous when compared to what God gives. And God gives us what we really want but don't have the capacity to even define, never mind provide for ourselves. God fulfills those mysterious, lurking, amorphous desires that we can but barely glimpse for microseconds at a time until we are reunited with God. And then it all becomes clear.

To look at the petty whims and wishes I used to have--before I knew God--and to compare them with what God has given me...it makes me laugh. As if I knew what fed the human soul! God knows, though. And when you give your life back to God, he gives what you always knew you wanted but had forgotten, in your quest for transient, vaporous desires that you sought...but that when you found, just created the need for more. Since they weren't food at all. They were the illusion of want. They were a pathetic substitute for what you really wanted but couldn't even think of to say.

Go to God, and it will all become clear. Or stay on the fence, looking in at something you cannot comprehend, judging it to be hypocritical or ridiculous or both. It is your choice, either way.

Yes, God does want you to do what is right but is it him making the choice for you? No, its not......you are the one that is going to make the choices about how you live and what you will do....thats why its called free will....bedcause even though He does know.......He is leaving all choices and and decisions up to you.

You mention its like someone giving you a porn mag and saying you cant look through it........well, even though they say that to you.......you still have that choice will you look at it or will you throw away and not look at it.......same with God He is saying " You have Me or you have the world"........what you choose and what you will do with that choice is up to you.....God does know but He wont make the choice for you.

Not all religions assume that God has a plan, or that we are supposed to do anything.

In most belief systems, God gave us free will. Depending on the system, God also provided a set of rules, guidelines and preferences.

The rest is up to us.

This is my point also. Today's Christians say do what I want you to do or else, God knows what you are going to decide to do, just knowing isn't directing you, it's just knowing.Christians on the other hand don't know what you are going to do and want you to do what they say to do. They feel the need to guide, push, prod and threaten. They leave nothing to you because of coarse they know best. Christ was not like that. He was asked questions and answered them. He did not demand he did not shun or turn his back on anyone. There is a big difference and it is a difference in being Christ like or Christian.

Maybe there should be little black boxes over some parts of the bible like there are over certain body parts in some porn mags...

Well, freewill means you have a choice. Your parents can say don't snack before a meal but it is up to you whether or not you are going to ruin your appetite with junk food.

You can listen to sound advice or do your own thing....freewill

God gave us freewill as a way to prove that we love him...we have the choice to do what is right. He wants us to do right not necessarily do as he wants

It's called free agency. Ask a Mormon. They can fill you in on all the details. But it's basically up to us which way we want to go. We have choices. If we choose the right we can recieve blessings. If we choose the wrong we will have to face the consequences.
