Five year olds believe in leprechauns with pots of gold at the end of the rainbow, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and have tea parties with other imaginary friends. You believe something. The believe the opposite. They "dare" because both beliefs are personal, therefore both beliefs are valid.
Books have been written saying "God doesn't exist." Very old ones too. It's so simple a 5-year-old can understand it. The Book says so.
