I recently purchased a peach-faced lovebird and took time with it and got it to "step-up" then after a couple of weeks, after much patience, was able to get it to hand feed.....then I went back to the pet store for some cage cleaner and the bird that was left was still there and I felt sorry for it so purchased it also....they remembered each other and took right to being together again. So that is the story, and I continue to put my hand in and work on the stepping up and bird two eats from my hand when it sees bird one doing so. But I was just wondering does anyone have any other tips for caring for these birds that I may not have gotten out of the book? Also bird two's feet are a bit grayer than bird one, will it stay that way so i can tell them apart? :) thanks

At about what age do they go through the "teen" phase? The pair I have are about 6 months old or so, so I was told. If they start fighting will it be one fight and to the death or over a period of time?

i handfeed/raise lovebirds..they can be great little comedians! very active... if yours are fairly young be aware that at some point they will go through a teenage phase and though they may get along now....they may not in the future....they could even injure and/or kill each other....have you had them sexed? if they are related and opposite sex you should not keep them in the same cage...even if no nestbox they may try to mate.goodluck!

I once had a pair of lovebirds...they are lots of fun! If you want to keep them tame, then you have to work with them every day and handle them. It doesn't take them long to get kind of wild and start coming after you for a bite! Make them or buy them a playpen for birds and give them lots of toys. They will play for hours! I'm not sure about the gray feet...they can be hard to tell apart.

i am happy for you. you got one of the most intertainig birds that you can have. i have 4 of them. i had 15 but it was to hard to care for them. these birds do tend to get very fuzzy and they might get into fights with each other. but mates really don't fight to the end. but don't be fooled. my birds had 5 birdies one time and they all got along. there was one day when i noticed there was one that didn't want to hang out with the rest. the next day i saw the poor thing dead on the bottom of the cage. so be really careful and look for any bitting between each other. they are alot of fun and worth all the care. have fun with them and good luck

One of your lovebird's is alittle older than the other, that's why the feet are a different color....sounds like the bird/s have been handfed, which is good for you because that makes them nicer...
they like to be with other lovebirds, they will not fight to the end, they aren't like that...their very sweet bird's to have for pet's,,,,
keep working with them..they are really cute to watch, especially when they hang upside down...have fun....
