NO! Sounds like your pet has Kennel cough and that is highly contagious to other dogs..needs vet care and if that is what the vet prescribed for it then you can stick with that it works my dogs had that years ago and it went away. They get real hoarse due to the bronchitis

there is an old method that stock men used in Australia to get rid of horses cough and that was to get a paintbrush and wipe Stockholm tar down the tongue. Can't see why it wouldn't work on a dog.

Give cough syrup it helped with my dog. Not tylenol
