One theory is that you are in the same environment, so the oxygen level is the same. Interesting question!

yawns are not contagious, as many people think. A person yawns when their lungs are not recieving enough oxygen because the body is tired ( usually toward the evening or morning). Yawning is the body's way of regulating that intake.

lack of oxygen produces a yawn, and apparently just the mention of a yawn can make one want to yawn cuz since reading your question, ive yawned 3 times! i wonder if its just an effect of suggestion. considering that you yawn because of lack of oxygen in the lungs, and that inhaling oxygen makes you feel better, perhaps the suggestion makes a person want to yawn? i dont know but i cant read your question anymore...now i cant STOP yawning...lol
