My husband has a 13 year old that doesn't live with us but still spends almost everyday with him. My husband is a wonderful father and takes excellent care of him (besides the fact that he baby's him). We are planning to have a child soon and I am wondering if he will have as much interest in a second child as he did with his first born. Do you think that he can make time for a new baby without neglecting the child that doesn't live with us? I just have doubts sometimes ... I don't have any children of my own.

I think that he would still be a wonderful father, it's great that he spends a lot of time with his son!!!! I can't see any reason why that would change when he has a child with you.

I think it is great that your hubby is such a good dad. I am sure that he will continue being a great father. My husband had a child from another relationship and he acts the same way to all his kids. We have two girls and a boy on the way(20weeks), and his other baby is a girl, lives far away, and he loves when he gets a chance to go see her. I believe that a good dad will always be a good dad. Just make sure he involves his first kid in your pregnancy and baby, after all he would be the step brother.

He will probably do just fine. It sounds like he's a natural at fatherhood anyway. But, this is a question only your husband can answer. I advise talking to your husband. Sit down with him and tell him ALL of your concerns and why. Most likely, you just need his assurance that he will love your child as much as he loves the one from his previous relationship.

I have an 8 year old. When I found out I was pregnant last year I thought there was no way I could love another person as much as I loved my daughter. Well I do. I think when we have another child our hearts grow! Don't worry he will love them both and make time for both of them! Good Luck!!!!!!!

He will. As great of a father he is to the first, he'll still be great to the second. My stepdad has 5 kids altogether. He's still a great dad no matter what.

I believe that he will be a good father. He obviously cares for his offspring-even if he does not live with him. He loves you and will love what you create together. If you have fears you need to discuss it with him.
