First make sure your hair is completely dry. Section your hair by clipping up the top half to get it out of the way.

Then use a thermal setting spray on dry hair (or hairspray if you don't have anything else). Mist the entire bottom section.

Use a 3/4 inch curling iron (Revlon ceramic instant heat is great and inexpensive). Take about a one inch section of hair in your fingers & place the curling iron about half way up. Begin spiral curling as if you started at the ends, but as you do, relase the lever for a second letting a little hair slide through. Keep repeating that motion until you reach the ends. This way, the root area gets the heat the longest rather than the ends. Typically, the hair loses its curl at the scalp.

Hold the curling iron vertically. Touch the thickest part of the hair on the curling iron. When you feel the heat come through and the hair warm up (about 7 seconds), release the lever slightly. Pull out the curling iron from the bottom, trying not to pull on the curl.

Repeat this throughout your entire head, sectioning out parts.

Once your entire head is curled, spray it good with hairspray. Go do something else for a few minutes (brush your teeth, get dressed..etc) while the curls completely cool and set.

Finally, gently rake your fingers through the curls to seperate them a little. Tousle the hair as you spray with a firm hold hairspray. Sometimes I scrunch mine up if I want a messier look.

I've done this on people's hair that swear their hair wont hold curl. The best thing about this look is even at the end of the day after it's relaxed some, it still looks awesome because of the amount of curls you put in it.

Total look takes about 20-30 minutes on shoulder length hair.

Good luck!

Curl your hair at least 10 hours after it's been washed, and let it air dry. Take the section to curl, smoothe it with your fingers, spray the section, and then curl. Do not run your fingers through this hair. Do all your sections, spray again, let it 'set' for a half hour, then gently run your fingers through it. If you're not satisfied, recurl the parts you don't like. There are great thermal setting sprays out there, and if you spend enough time, one hairdo will go Friday morning to Saturday night.

Start dry. Spray your hair with hairspray before and after each curl.

Instead of curling your hair, keep it natural. That way, you won't regret stlying your hair that way when you look back on the picture. I would go with an off-the-center part.

Maybe curl your hair with a curling iron for the first day of school.

use volumizing shampoo, preferably aussie. make sure your hair is dry, it will curl better. use your curling iron and curl as you want. add a volumizing mousse and comb through your hair, then blowdry. finish off with some hairspray to keep your curls lasting all day.

Don't curl until it is dry. When curling spray it with hairspray to hold the curl.
