Which do you think is possible fabrication? Text, thousands of years old handed down one to the other, or "fossils"?
We can only guess at the past, even with the advances of modern science. Science, by the way, declared the psilocanthe (probably misspelled, but I can't find it anywhere), a species of prehistoric fish, extinct from anywhere between 50,000 and 250,000 years ago. That was a published scientific fact. Until one showed up about 20 or so years ago. Ooooops!! Keep in mind, this same science now tells us we humans, in our present forms, have only been around for 30,000 years.
No science is perfect, and, quite contrary to the implication that science is the only way to completely answer any question, requires more faith than one can muster for the Christian God or (insert the god of your choice here).
How so? Consider this; In our observations of the heavens, astronomy, and understanding physics, large scale and quantum mechanics; the advances made in technology in optical telescopes, radio telescopes and primarily for the now functioning Hubble telescope; those who are most connected, i.e. the scientific community as a whole, readily admits we have only seen as much as 4% of the universe.
How do we know the other 96% is there? Answer, faith. Believing in what can't be or hasn't yet been seen. I've never seen a miracle and would suspect that I never shall. But, just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it isn't there. It is impossible to prove a negative.
So, maybe man, the evolved species of today (taking into account the counter argument) actually requires more faith to accept science than an alternate spiritual concept.
Using the 4% guideline, much more of the Bible has been proven to have existed, historically, percentage wise, than what our science has been able to establish as absolute fact in the physical universe.
Dinosaurs existed, because there is a record of it. But, are you willing to bet your life that we got the "timing" thing worked out? After all, it's only science.
But it begs one to wonder, where are all the conspiracy theorists, so abundant in other areas?
As a disclaimer, I'm not a Bible thumpin' holy roller, just one who tried to answer a somewhat loaded question. By address, the implication is that somehow science and religion (of ANY kind [nobody's got a monopoly on any god]) cannot co-exist.
But, as for me, 4% isn't very good odds. It will take nothing less than the PROVEN unified theory for me to put my soul on the line.

As of today - I believe humans have found a crater from an asteroid, or comet, that created such devastation, that everything changed. I'm going with this.
All this evidence was provided by GOD, for those that DO NOT believe in him, so they can be comfortable.
What I believe is that GOD saw we could not live with these creatures so had to make changes, so we could live here. We are talking about GOD and time. Two subjects no human knows anything about. Plus the earth had to be reshaped before we arrived, anyway. So there were terrible earthquakes and storms until GOD was content: ocean size, and rivers, and mountians, and land mass, Oxygen levels, etc.. Humans can handle the other mammals, cave bear, lions, etc. but dinosaurs were just too much.

It is believed by some scholars that behemoth is related to an Egyptian term, peheme, roughly rendered “ox of the water.” That this did not denote a hippopotamus is evidenced by the fact that the Egyptians had other words for that creature.
In Job’s narrative behemoth is described as a grass-eater that is very strong, with great muscles (15-16). He moves his tail like a cedar tree (17). Even Frances Anderson, who identifies this creature as a hippo, admits: “It is hard to see how his tail can be compared to a cedar, for the tail of the hippopotamus is small and short” (Commentary on Job, London: Tyndale, 1976, p. 276).
Behemoth’s skeleton is like a massive framework of brass and iron (18). He is “chief” (i.e., first in size, might) of the works (creatures) of God; so huge, in fact, that only his Maker dare approach him with the sword (19).

Why Christians only. So you can make fun of creationism. Parroting something you heard somewhere?
I know you want to say that they are not in the bible. Are they not? It does say that God created everything that walks swims or flys. And I doubt anyone believes the days as referenced in Genisus, were 24 hour days. Before you go off on some tangent I know there is nothing I can say that will change you, and I really don't care to. I know what I believe. The answer to your question lies in the movie "Airplane." Look it up sometime.

Dinosaurs are like Barney. Because Barney = Dinosaur. And Christians hate Barney. Ergo: Dead Barney

I will answer your question if you answer mine. Why do animals go extinct today? Many are now on the endangered lists because they are likely to go extinct in this age.

Most likely not enough food. or maybe it was the flood, I don`t know, but men used to be larger too, so maybe animals were just bigger then, and now they are smaller so we can all fit in the world. Now you have to admit this was a very smart answer. lol

After the flood, the expansion of people killed them off. Remember all those stories of knights killing dragons?
