Could you please give me an example out of scripture where this was ever done. Scripture teaches by precept and example, and I cannot find an example of this. Apparently the apostles did not believe this, because you cannot find anyplace where they said 'repeat this prayer and you will be saved". i am just wondering if we are now more enlightened that Peter, Paul, and John. They taught the repentance, baptism in Jesus' Name and the infilling of the Holy Ghost were essential to salvation. And about this business of He that endure to the end, the same shall be saved. Red letters, but I suppose we are also more enlightened than Jesus Christ Himself.just praying a prayer, and then you can do whatever youwant, and the grace of God covers it all, well, I can't find it. Someone please help me to understand. All I want is to know the plain, unadulterated Word of God, not watered down by man's opinion of it.

When I was 9. There is nothing in the Bible that even hints at it. It's a tradition within the religion only. And, now that I'm older, I wonder why people need a set prayer from someone else in order to actually pray. Seems to me, that would only make the prayer worthless as it isn't exactly directly from the heart.

Well I dont know who is telling you things but they need guidence themselves. I have "prayed the sinners prayer" however it was more that that. The prayer is just a tool to help you repent and accept Jesus into your heart it does by no means give you the right to go do whatever. I have made mistakes since being saved and I have to repent for them that is where Gods grace comes in but to think He's going to ignore your sins once you are saved is foolish. I'd like to know the scripture you are refering to. I would also incourage you to see council with a word of faith pastor someone who preaches from a nondenomination church could help you even more. The only perfict person was Jesus. The rest of us are born sinners, plain and true if you live by scripture them you have nothing to worry about. Good luck to you! Be careful who you accept info from rember the goal of the enemy is to confuse and destroy. God Bless!

When we talk to God, we should be telling Him what is in our hearts. After all, He already knows, but wants us to admit we are wrong. There are different ways to do this.
Jesus said to the prostitute 'Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more'. To Levi the tax collecter he said 'Come and follow me'.

Jesus dealt with each person according to their understanding. In my own case, it was learning that God did care about me that made the difference.

Sometimes an intelligent person can look at what is taught and try to present it in a clear consice way. Billy Graham taught the sinners prayer. He backed it up with simple teaching from the Bible. '

Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ put it into a booklet.

The sinners prayer may be just the understandin of man of what the Bible teaches. Still, it does point to these and many other verses that show us of our need for something outside of ourslelves.

Yes. He didn't want you to chant special words like the pegans do.
Matthew 6:7 And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. (American Standard Version)

He wants the words you use to have meaning to YOU. You have already spelled it out. Now say it to God.

If you want to hear the unadulterated Word of God ask him to speak to you. Ask that you will hear his voice. Some get blessed with hearing whole sentences from Him. Other's of us, He helps us work at it, listening with our heart, asking Him questions with yes/no answers. Then we get that feeling that he means yes or no. Kind of like learning a language without lessons, eventually, we learn to understand His every word. Then you can translate it into English and water it down with your own opinion (like I just did, oops).

I agree with you about the sinner's prayer, but why do you believe that reading the Bible will provide you with all the answers?

No where in scripture does the Bible claim to be the sole, or even the primary faith authority.

That role rightly belongs to the only church which Jesus personally founded, which is the Catholic church.

if you have sinned then pray to God for forgiveness and then sin no more. there is no such prayer as'sinner's prayer'. we are all sinners but by God's grace we were saved with Jesus' blood on the cross.
