Well, just to the best you can with all your work and try to have a positive attitude about everything that comes your way. Just be yourself and dont try to hard to impress people, act natural and be yourself and you are sure to be liked! Have a great year!

I know this is not relative to your question much, but wish I knew the answer to your question. I started jhs in 1957. I know, I'm an old fart and keep out of the conversation. I just wonder what it's like growing up in this world we have now? Things are so very different now than when I was in school. I truly feel sorry for you children now. This is not a nice world we live in and it really used to be. It's our fault that its not anymore and I don't know what to do about it. Have a great life.

Be prepared for hell. I'm a junior in High School. In Middle School, I came home crying daily.
You have no real friends. The ones from Elementary school don't really like you. They'd sell you out in a heart beat for popularity.
The boys don't care about personality. Only looks.
If you have a chest, duct tape them down. You don't want them. Trust me.
Don't try to wear make-up. You can't do it right. None of you can. It looks fake, and it's obvious you're wearing it.
Don't be yourself, for the love of all that exists. Try to fit in. Everyone says be yourself. Well, don't. No one likes anyone who's different.
If you're smart, start acting stupid. Don't raise the grading curve... Get a C+ at best. If youplay video games, never play them again... That's about all I can say.
The experience is unpleasant for everyone, and not just you.

Don't be nervous. I was the shortest one in the entire school. If people say anything to you that might upset you just laugh it off. That's what I did and I made a lot of friends that way. Because if you get upset they will keep picking on you.

you should be prepared for the teachers to care a lot less about you and be a lot less accommodating. They don't care as much about you as an individual (at least in my experience so far), mostly because they have at least one hundred kids to teach.
also you should be prepared to labeled into a group. It is really inconvenient, because people will try to label you even if you don't fit in with that group. They can't deal with somone who isn't in a "group" (e.g I think people think I am in the "nerd/annoying person" group, but I cannot stand the nerd/annoying person group when they're all together. I have some friends who are in that group, but I have other friends who aren't, and that makes people uncomfortable.)
Also the boys are really annoying and there are only a couple whom any sane girl would like. Boys grow up slower than girls, so they are still very immature when the girls have grown up. So if you get a boyfriend, be aware that most of those kinds of relationships last less than a month in jr. high.
K, you want tips? here you go:
don't read anything but teen lit in school. People will think you're a geek if you come in reading Lord of the Rings. I suggest clique or gossip girl "novels". Or you can read Lemony Snicket.
don't pretend to be something you're not. If you do pretend, do it really well.
get your locker combination right. stay after school when you get your locker and practice opening and closing it until you're a pro.
only wear the makeup you know how to put on. If it's your first time wearing eyeliner, practice using it, and try different ones, so you know if it will look good on you. Also under this category: don't dye your hair very drastically, or do it in a fake color, or a color that doesn't match your skin. You can do blonde highlights (a lot of girls in my school wear those) if you have brown hair. 2 horror stories: my friend tried to do those blonde highlights herself and messed up and had to dye all of her hair that color, so get it done at a salon. Another girl I know dyed her hair "red". She said it was red, but it was actually pink. She walked in one day with pink hair, and everyone said, "Why is your hair pink?" and she said, "it's not pink, it's RED." and only dye your hair over a vacation (e.g. winter, summer, spring). Don't change your ahir color in the middle of the week.
get some good astringent. Nothing is more disgusting than sitting next to someone with zits. on the same line of thought here, don't smell bad. ever. especially after pe. also, if you wear makeup, be sure to re-apply it after pe.
find someone to sit with at lunch. It doesn't matter if you like them, just don't sit by yourself.
carry a purse. You can carry all sorts of things in there, but DO NOT LEAVE IT ANYWHERE!!!!!! not even on a bench in the locker room, I promise you, someone will steal something. Cell phone, iPod, wallet, whatever, it will get stolen.
only go to football games if you know that a friend will be there also.
dress for yourself. I know of at least three girls who dress as though they are scrawny petite little things and they are NOT. If you don't look good in a miniskirt, don't wear it. People would rather not see the skirt than see it and have it look bad.
if you need a bra, wear one.
don't wear girls shirts that are too big for you. the only shirts that should be big on you are men's shirts, hoodies, and football jerseys. also don't wear shirts that are too small for you.
be prepared. bring all your supplies to class on time.
don't wear the "looks" right off the manequin. It looks tacky.
don't get to class early, but don't get there late.
don't misbehave in class in a way that is distracting to other people. It is all right if someone, like, sets the clock forward in your last class while the teacher's out, so you get out of class early (a girl in one of my classes did that and it was hilarious.) but it's better not to do that stuff and not get into trouble.
anyways, people say that middle school is this big drama, but mine isn't (so far.) so good luck.

Be prepared for the worst, hope for the best. Jr. High is a transition period. You will probably get new friends, and start thinking about dating. Just remember, it only lasts a couple years. I actually loved Jr. High. It was far better than high school for me.
