If you chemically straightened your hair, bleaching/lightening (same difference) or even highlighting your hair will make it very fragile and prone to breakage. You will have to buy a new shampoo and conditioner to counter breakage.

Bleaching is different and putting any chemicals in your hair will damage it some.

No. You don't have to use bleach to lighten your hair. It depends on how light your trying to go.

Lightning the hair is much better then bleaching. Its also healthier. Use lemon, honey, or this chamillion tea and sit in the sun/lite with it soaked in your hair.

No, it is different than bleach, but it is very damaging. If you decide to lighten, make sure you purchase a replenishing shampoo.
