mean? What constitutes the quality of "Inerrancy", which most NT scholars insist applies to the NT as well as the OT. It seems that the definition of inerrancy does not hold up under examination, and practical interpretation seems to give it another definition altogether. The word "Inerrant" should mean, without error..none. Therefore, if the Bible has NO errors, it can qualify,,,aside from copiest errors with are the case with many typesetters.. lets examine whether the Bible, especially the NT is indeed without error. I would like to ask you to validate my question by doing some basic research. IF you cannot find the answer, dont just reject the question....look further.
First item: The NT says Jesus was anointed, and according to the words of Jesus, saying, he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill the LAW,,,,,where in the NT did Jesus receive the anointing that was required, according to the Law of Leviticus, to be anointed?

the bible is not innerant as you have already found out. copying errors do exist. However some still try to mke the case that it is. I believe and strongly so that it still remains invalible.

bob l is right about the books that have the anointment of Jesus right.
Not all fragments of the bible are in very good shape and the translators substituted what they thought should be the correct words into the blanks.or misinterpreted some of the writings as they were faded and a critical mark in a word was left out that changed the meaning.
The N.T. is a collection of letters written by the Apostles that came from all over the known world. also in poor shape for translation . some are even said to be written years after the Ascension. written by scribes that wrote down what the apostles could remember of the words that Christ spoke to them.

On the mount of transfiguration as we know it to be called.Jesus stood with Moses ( the law giver ) and Elias ( the prophet ) . Peter , James , and John were present. For out of the mouths of two or three witnesses can every word be established ."While he yet spake , behold a bright cloud overshadowed them ;(like the cloud in the wilderness) and behold a voice out of the cloud , which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased ; HEAR YE HIM ." Matthew 17:1-5.In Christ all the law (Moses) and all the prophecy (Elias) are for filled.Moses himself prophesied "The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee , of thy brethren , like unto me ; unto him ye shall hearken;"Deuteronomy 18:15. The same spoke the Martyr Stephen , Acts 7:37.Your question was a good question but there isn't much salvation in these kind of questions.Thank God we don't have to know all of this to be saved.Be careful that you don't get tangled up with all of this .Remember the Gospel is so simple that a fool could not error there in.

The name Jesus Christ means Jesus the Anointed One. You need faith to believe the Bible. Too many people find that something simple like faith is too difficult for them to understand, therefore they seek to make a big issue out of things.

I believe that Jesus answered that question when He stood up for to read in the Synagogue. He said that, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to preach...(I believe that was Luke 4 refering to Isaiah 61:1-4)
What was the second item? Just because it doesn't make logical sense to you, don't discredit it altogether. Isaiah also tells us that God's ways and thoughts are not like ours. Remember, He is infinite, and we are finite.

His anointing is recorded in three of the four Gospels:
Jesus was anointed before His burial, by the sinner with the Alabaster box of ointments.

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43 To him give all the prophets awitness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
Where? Preexistance and the Mount of Transfiguration
2 ¶ And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves

hoopla!
anointing is symbolic of persons or implements that have been dedicated for service to God alone.
