I started my period on the 24th. It ended on the 30th. On the 31st i had sex, then on the 3rd, then on the 6th. We used a condom--but didnt put it on until after we had started ....about a minute into it. (on all 3 occasions) He kept the condom on the entire rest of the time. Should I be worried? I know this was a stupid mistake or mistakes! I dont need to be told that---I am just curios. I dont want to get pregnant--and I should have controlled myself in the heat of the moment -but i didnt. What do u think??

If you menstruate every 28 days, you would most likely ovulate between the 10th and the 14th day after the first day of your last menstrual period. For instance, if you are very regular with your period, and you started your period on the 24th, your most fertile time is between the 3rd and the 7th. If you have unprotected sex between the 3rd and the 7th, you have a very good chance of becoming pregnant. If you did not have your partner put on the condom until you had already begun intercourse, you are exposing yourself to the possibility of becoming pregnant, because the natural lubricant, pre-ejaculate fluid that is secreted BEFORE orgasm contains many sperms. In addition, sperms can live in the woman's body for up to 5 days, and it sometimes takes a day or two for the egg to travel down the fallopian tubes once it is released from the ovary. If you have concerns about being pregnant, wait until your next period is due, and if it dosn't come or is more than a week late, have a pregnancy test done. Over the counter urine pregnancy tests CAN be accurate if done on the first morning's urine, after being late 3 to 5 days. However, the blood pregnancy test done by your doctor is much more accurate, and should be done when you are 5 days late. If the first test is negative, repeat again in one week. If the second test is also negative, you are probably not pregnant. However, to keep from risking pregnancy in the future, the condom should be put on BEFORE your husband penetrates you. The condom not only prevents pregnancy, but also protects from sexually transmitted diseases and HIV infection. Putting it on after you have already engaged in the act, can be futile. I think that if you are concerned about becoming pregnant, you should be a little more careful the next time, or use an alternative method of birth control.

If your cycle is regular, ovulation usually occurs about halfway between periods, i.e. if your cycle is normally 28 days, you would probably ovulate around 14 days after the start of your last period (doesn't matter how long it lasted). Sperm can survive in the female body for several days, so the general rule is that 3 days before ovulation, and 1 day after ovulation, is the optimal time to get pregnant. So if you have a 28 day cycle, you had sex at exactly the right time to get pregnant.

Hope that helps answer your question, and I hope you get the result you want.
