Three ways:
1) throw coffee in with hot water, then filter when pouring it in the cup
2) french press - this is probably the single best way to make coffee - pour the hot water from the kettle in with the beans, and after they have steeped for 2 minutes, use the "press" to seperate the beans from the coffee - you can pick one up in any starbucks or home furnings store
3) Put the coffee in a filtering devise, and put it in the water. I heard someone say that they used a tube sock (never been worn, and washed first), filled it with the coffee, then placed in the kettle with the hot water.

Heat up some water in the kettle, meanwhile, put some coffee grounds in a filter of some sort and put it in a basket of some sort, when the water is hot enough, pour it gently through the coffee grounds in the filter into a receptacle. I do this all the time when I don't feel like using my coffee maker or when I don't have one (years ago.)

either you buy instant coffee
OR
you can buy this little kit that is like a stick that holds a small filter over your cup and you put in a tbsp of coffee ground and pour boiling water over it slowly
that's for an individual cup

when we go camping - i have an old coffee carafe from a coffee maker, and I found a cone at a garage sale = it's an old drip coffee cone and holds a regular coffee filter - I set it on top of the carafe, put the coffee into the cone with the filter, and pour boiling water over it. if you are making about 6 mugs of coffee, use 3 rounded tablespoons of coffee bean and pour water to the rim (slowly) of the cone, let it totally drain, then pour water again to the rim slowly.
it makes awesome coffee.

You'll need a filter of some kind. Cheapest filters are the paper ones you normall put in a coffeemaker, but you don't need to have the coffee maker itself. All the coffee maker does is heats up the water and pours it through the ground coffee for you.

You can pour your coffee into a pot of boilign water, just as you would for tea. Use the same ratio as for coffee makers, let brew about 4-5 min., then pour thru a sieve into your cup.

You can also find a small "drip" coffee pot. You put grounds into the metal center section. It has little holes in it. YOu puor the boiling water int he top section, and it drips thru the grounds to the bottom section, which you can then pour into your cup. No electricity required.

you will need a clean empty mayonnaise jar......a 1 cup plastic measuring cup.....and a coffee filter ( basket type )

heat water in the kettle.......

tap a small hole in the center of the measuring cup ( use a hot nail )....put a filter in the cup......add 2T ground coffee for each 6-8 oz of water....( remembering that you're limited by the size of the jar you're using ).....

s l o w l y pour the hot water over the coffee......and let it drip into the jar.......add more water when there is room....

remember not to add more water than you have coffee...and not to overflow the jar.....

this is pretty close to the " automatic drip " machines that most people use.....

didn't have one for over a year when I lived down south....and this method made some pretty good coffee !!

Just poor the coffee grounds into a pot with the boiling water, then strain as you pour coffee into a cup. It tastes good this way, too.

you need an old guy for this question. we always boiled coffee and it tasted MUCH better than todays hurry up stuff. Just throw the grounds in the pot of water and bring to a boil. let it boil for about half a minute then trow some cold water in to settle the grounds and you got it. some old people used to toss in an egg. you'll have to experiment to figure water to grounds.

Using measurements you usually follow, add finely ground coffee in a mug or other receptacle. Pour on boiling water, allow to sit for about 15-20 mins. depending how strong you want your coffee. Strain & serve.
