You misunderstand the concept of era. There are three eras in the Phanerozoic Eon, the Paleozoic Era, the Mesozoic Era and the Cenozoic Era. The Triassic and Devonian are Periods within the Mesozoic Era and Paleozoic Eras respectively. The Eocene is an epoch in the Paleogene Period of the Cenozoic Era. My favorite Era is the Roaring Twenties.
