DON'T say ANYTHING!! Being busted for this can cause long term damage. This is a natural activity, let him be.

I don't think you should do anything to address what you saw. I think if you say something you will only embarrass him and make him feel something is wrong with him for wanting to do it, which can have long-term consequences. But you may consider talking to your son about sex, masturbating, etc, just in general. I would knock before I entered the room in the future. ALL teen boys do it, heck, even girls do it too. It's normal. I believe it's just a natural step toward a young person's sexual maturity. Wouldn't you rather your son have a good, healthy sex life as an adult than to feel something is "wrong" with his natural urges? Don't get me wrong, I advocate abstinence. My 13 y/o son & I have had lenghty discussions on why he won't be ready for sex until he's: #1, an adult; and #2, when he finds the right person. But I also tell him, IF he does, use a condom. Educating your child is the best thing you can do for him OR her.
When I started suspecting my son was doing the same thing, I explained that it was normal but it was very private thing and he should use discretion if he does it. I would prefer he wear himself out masturbating than possibly getting a STD or getting somebody pregnant.

This is perfectly normal! I have three teenage boys! !7, 15, and 13! If you say something to him it will only embarrass him; unless you already talk openly about sex and it's related topics. We do at my house. That helps when it comes time to talk about embarrassing things like what happened with you and your son!He is probably wondering what you are thinking of him right now! Yeah, you really need to let him know it's okay and that you are'nt mad or any thing.

Act like you do not realize he was masterbating, just tell him you saw him naked and that is only acceptable in the privacy of his room.

Masturbating is an acceptable sexual outlet. No one gets STD's, no one gets pregnant, but by all means don't act like you have a clue what was going on.

Let it slide. He's already dying about it, unless he doesn't know you saw him. If he doesn't, you might want to say something that would encourage him to respect his own privacy, and keep private things private, but that you love him more than anything. Always finish a reprimand telling him how much you love him.

!4 year olds masterbate! Don't embarras him. He is a horney teenager. There is a book called What's Happening to Me? He needs it. Find a way to give it to him so he doesn't feel wierd. Maybe a friend could help you... I wish I could remember the author's name...sorry

Leave him alone for heavens sake. At that age they get so horny, they need some relief. Let him feel good, if you say something it could make him so embarrassed...I'm sure he thought you were gone for many hours.

Its completely normal!! He is just becoming a man. However, if he does it in public...you might wanna worry. I think you should let him be. Try to remember when you were his age. Everyone becomes curious at that age.

What would you say? It's natural, he'll do it for the rest of his life. The only thing your intervention could do is embarrass him. Unless it becomes a problem, I'd leave him alone.
