Generally, because they are sad about the loss of their loved one, friend, etc. Crying is a natural reaction in response to grief or significant loss, a funeral is an event that gives people a chance to say goodbye to the desceased person and be free to express their heartfelt emotions, which is usually by crying.

ya know, I don't really know. The last funeral I went to, I didn't cry. I was sad my lady friend was gone, but I knew that she was in a better place, and she wasn't in any pain anymore. (she died of cancer)

yes. if you sit down and think about someone that is close to you.. such as your mother father brother sister and so on.. try and imagine them not being there for the rest of your life. you will never be able to talk to them again and get a response from them. maybe you havent lost anyone that is close to you.. but when you do.. u will understand.
