R&S is for Religion and Spirituality right. Budhism is my religion I have Faith in it's tenets, it saved me, helped me love myself and the world and is an intergral part of my spiritual nature. It is more than a Philosophy. Now if you would like the R&S section to be only about Jewish based religions like Christianity and Islam maybe Yahoo answers can segregate the religions. I think segregation would be wrong, we could learn from each other better if non segrated. If I wanted to ask other Budhist a question I would come here.

As an ex-christian, a follower of the Tao who has studied several religions.. I can tell you Hinduism and Buddhism are considered religions.

Even if you do not consider either of them legitimate religions because you are some kind of knee-jerk Christian Fundie consider that the category is religion and spirituality.. and that both Buddhism and Hinduism deal with the spiritual path to enlightenment. Thereby making this a perfectly legitimate forum to post in.

Why are you pointing out hindus and buddists? They can post whereever they want to just like a lot of other folks do. Why didn't you post this question in Philosopy category if you think they should do likewise?

I hope you did not intend this as a racial slur!

Hinduism and buddisim ARE religions. If anything, its catholisim and christiany that are not religions. They just borrow off other, older religions. Hinduism and buddisim both hold a lot of philosophy, but they are both still religions.I am hindu, and find this a horrible question.

I tend to severely disagree... That is thier religion & spirituality! Both are legitamate and legally recognised religions and millions of people practise them daily. Ironically enough both religions also believe in the right for Christians to practise thier faith and have it recognised - maybe you can show them the same respect.
There are hundreds of religions out there that have little to do with Christianity but are recognised as legitamate faiths. Have a look into them - you might find it interesting!

Because it is called Religion and Spirituality which they are. To argue the point, Christianity is a philosophy too.

If you want to be technical, ALL religious and spiritual beliefs are philosophies. So until they rename this the "All Judeo-Christian All the time forum", you're going to need to deal.

They are religions (major ones) and could teach you about tolerance if you were open minded enough to learn.

From reading your question though I doubt you have a mind to open, at least one you use.
