I heard that apple seeds are poisonous to humans if they are eaten in huge quantities. Perhaps it is just an urban legend, but I heard someone killed themselves once by eating thousands of them all at once...I think they contain cyanide.

Yes, Apple seeds contain cyanide which is poisonous to both humans and animals. (Although it would take a large quantity of them to kill a human)

apple seeds have cyanide in them. the amount of cyanide is normally not harmful, but it's still toxic. eat a couple seeds and you probably won't notice any ill effects... eat a handful and you might need some emergency treatment.
