All felines are nocturnal when given a chance, I say when given a chance because both Oscar and Felipe (my cats) go out all day long and by six o'clock are safely inside roaming through the house.
Nocturnal activities are common in felines, since they can see in the dark it is the perfect time of day to hunt and explore the neighborhood without the risks involved with daylight exploration, plus if your cat is male he might be looking for a girlfriend.

Cats are nocturnal by nature...that means they prefer to roam around and hunt at night.

If at all possible you should make your cat an indoor cat. There are too many things that can happen to him/her outside. Your cat can get hit by a car, attacked other animals, trapped by a neighbor who doesn't want your cat coming in their yard...get the picture?

Even if you can't make your cat an indoor only cat, make sure to have it spayed or neutered. This will help prevent it from wandering too far from home. Also make sure your cat is up to date on all of its shots, if it comes in contact with a diseased cat then it could get sick too.

My cat leaves at night all the time. They like hunting and walking around their "territory". They have boundary's that they never pass and sometimes they want to see what is there.

To hunt. Cats are nocturnal (hunt during the night, sleep during the day), and they're hunters.

Keeping your cat inside is safer than letting him roam....but if you're going to continue to let him roam, PLEASE make certain he's neutered. If he's not, he's also out huntin' for poon....and there are enough unwanted cats and kittens in this world.

they like to roam and hunt

to prevent this, try building a fence that is unable for cat to climb and has small holes if any, and it is over 6 ft tall. or make it a habit to keep your cat inside the whole night. you can purchase a cat tree or any cat gadgets to install into your house. please take precaution that your cat will have an unlikely chance to live longer, because of cars, another animals, traps, and cat-hating people like me. thank you!

If he's going out every night and drinkin' with his buddies, don't ever have him declawed. He'll need 'em.

It's nothing to worry about, that's what they do.
