I am traveling in mid-November, but not over Thanksgiving. I am taking a makeup-artist training course near Fifth and W 20th St., Manhattan. I hope to stay in walking distance, but a short cab ride is okay too. Coming from SF, staying around a week, starting on Nov. 11th or 12th. The only amentites I care about are safe, clean, no shared bathrooms. Hoping to get something aroun $125-$150 per night. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Try these hotels. I think the Chesea Inn will be the cheapest option. If you don't like these, the only other option would be to go to priceline.com and pick the your price, pay a booking fee, and hope for the best. You won't know where your staying until after you have paid for. http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/productInfo.do?propertyCode=33084#null, http://www.lasemanahotelnyc.com/, http://chelseainn.com/

I'm sorry, but $125 is not considered moderately priced in NYC. Moderately priced is around $250 to $300. Around Madison or 5th Avenue (I'm assuming you mean midtown manhattan), you're looking at closer to $400 to $500. You might want to consider staying in Queens or even Jersey City, NJ and then taking a train in. The only other thing I can think of is trying Clarion hotels (there is one around 26th & Park) or finding a Best Western. If you book early, you may be able to get the Clarion for under $250.

There is almost no way you are going to find a hotel that cheap in that area. You are looking at atleast $250. Good luck.
