My sister is 18 and I have recently found out that she is urinating in the bed. Why wouldnt she just go to the bathroom? I'm afraid that maybe shes going crazy because schizophrenia runs in our family. Could she be going crazy? If not why would she pee in the bed? I asked her why she said she was scared to go to the bathroom. I didnt believe her so I asked her if anyone has done anything to her she keeps telling me no. I dont know why she keeps doing it. Its not only at night but she does it during the day to and then she hurries up and changes her panies and throws them in the washer. I guess she forgets about them so when I go to wash my clothes sometimes I open the washer up and I see and can smell her panies which have a strong stench of urine. I told my mom to talk to her but my momm doesnt want to believe she is peeing in the bed. I told her maybe she needed councelling and my mom keeps dismissing it. Her room reeks of urine as well.

I think it is a serious issue and it's upsetting to hear that your mother is dismissing it. If your sister says shes scared, ask her what she's scared of. if it's the dark then maybe is she had a flashlight to take with her to go to the bathroom?

First, if you think your daughter may have a mental disorder, it's better to get it checked out right away and not let it go and hope this all disappears. If that checks out, think about how long you've lived in your house. If you just moved it, could it possibly be haunted and the bathroom is the place the hauntings take place and that's why your daughter is afraid to use the bathroom? Also, think about why you don't believe her that the bathroom is scary. Why do you think she's lying? But don't ever tell her you think she's lying. If you do, a gap will come between the two of you and she may never come to you with her problems. If everything is fine there, it's time to take her to the doctor. A normal 18 year old doesn't pee her pants or the bed. She may have a medical condition.

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary excretion of urine from one's body. It is often temporary, and it almost always results from an underlying medical condition.
Urge incontinence is involuntary loss of urine occurring for no apparent reason while suddenly feeling the need or urge to urinate. The most common cause of urge incontinence is involuntary and inappropriate detrusor muscle contractions.
Overflow incontinence occurs when the patient's bladder is always full so that it frequently leaks urine. Weak bladder muscles, resulting in incomplete emptying of the bladder, or a blocked urethra can cause this type of incontinence.
Stress and urge incontinence often occur together in women. and this combination in particular - are sometimes referred to as "mixed incontinence."
Person with incontinence should be referred to a medical practitioner specializing in this field. Urologists specialize in the urinary tract, and some urologists further specialize in the female urinary tract.
