My Dad has passed away and this is one of the jokes I found written in his notes, Let me know what you think! Thanks!
Mama's Bible

Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful
doctors and lawyers and prospered.

Some years later, they chatted after having dinner together.
They discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother who lived far away in another city.

The first said, "I had a big house built for Mama."

The second said, "I had a hundred thousand dollar theatre built in the house."

The third said, "I had my Mercedes dealer deliver an SL600 to her."

The fourth said, "You know how Mamma loved reading the Bible and you know she can't read anymore because she can't see very well. I met this preacher who told me about a parrot that can recite the entire bible. It took twenty preachers 12 years to teach him. I had to pledge to contribute $100,000 a year for twenty years to the church, but it was worth it. Mamma just has to name the chapter and verse and the parrot will recite it."

The other brothers were impressed.
After the holidays Mom sent out her Thank You notes.
She wrote:

Milton , the house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but
I have to clean the whole house. Thanks anyway."

"Marvin, I am too old to travel. I stay home, I have my groceries
delivered, so I never use the Mercedes. The thought was good. Thanks"

"Michael, you gave me an expensive theatre with Dolby sound, it could hold 50 people, but all of my friends are dead, I've lost my hearing and I'm nearly blind. I'll never use it. Thank you for the gesture just the same."

"Dearest Melvin, you were the only son to have the good sense to give a little thought to your gift. The chicken was delicious. Thank you."

My Dad was a Mormon Bishop and I think this is one of the strories he used to show people that it is not what you have moneywise in life, but how you treat the ones you love! God Bless you all, Please let me know waht you think, Thanks.

I think everyone who reads this will enjoy it. It is an old joke and has been told with a few variations over the years.

Your father is smiling down on him. I read once about a young girl who was dying from cancer - she told her parents she wanted to be remembered for all the good times they had together - she actually made a notebook and filled it with her descriptions of all those good times so they would remember her.

Your finding and sharing that joke of your father's is a little like that. Try to remember all the good, fun times together. Maybe even write some of them down so you can share them with your children some time later on.

Sorry to hear about your father. I'm sure he's a great man.

The joke is good. You could always send it to Reader's Digest and let more people read it while getting $100 for it.

Cheers & Bottoms Up

That was cute! My dad died when I was 16 (45 now). He used to tell jokes to us all the time. Remembering them makes it feel like he's close by. Hold on to those good memories! God be with you!
