I remember back in my HIgh school years, when they changed the lunch program, they also started serving soups (In the middle and high school levels) but this was only once or twice a week. I wished they served soups daily, (have a soup of the day like restaurants do) because I am a big fan for soup. Do you think school should serve a soup of the day, and possible have it made from scratch?

During the cold seasons I think its a great idea. So many schools have really fatty menus. I wish they all had salad bars and soups, baked potato bars, maybe even vegan options. Yes soups are a great way for kids to get their serving of veggies that are so defecit in the american diet.

Yes, that is a really good idea! There are lots of people who would have soup every day of the week. I don't know how the lunches are made nowadays. When I was in school, the food was prepared from scratch in each school cafeteria.

My highschool would have a soup of the day. A bowl of soup would be $1.75, and you could have added it to your entree as a side, or just eat it alone. The soup would sometime match with the main entree (ie, Grilled Cheese and tomato soup). It wasn't made from scratch, but it still tasted good.

I don't remember what days we had what, but Thursday was Wedding Soup day, and I would always get it. XD

A soup du jour and salad bar should be made available for those who prefer an alternative to the normal cafeteria fare or to possibly complement whatever main meal is on the menu.
