You need a professional to get rid of that kind of mold. There are people who specialize in removing mold but have your insurance company give you the name of qualified contractors. No, I doubt your insurance will cover the cost.

The contractor will remove the dry wall, probably the insulation, etc. Then spray with a special chemical and allow the area to dry. Mold can only grow where there is moisture so expect you may have a leak somewhere or the outside sprinklers are hitting the building.

Soap and water does not remove mold. Small areas can be removed with a bleach water solution but not as big as you seem to have.

The main problem is standng water outside. The landlord must be informed & since mold is a health hazard, he has to fix the problem. You can get rid of the mold on the wall with diluted bleach - try 1/2 bleach & 1/2 water. Lysol cleanser is also good.
If landlord balks at fixing the drainage, threaten him with going to the Public Health Dept. or the city. Good luck!

Mold is the result of high moisture in an area. Efforts to get rid of it will fail, unless the source of the moisture is found and eliminated. The source may be a leaky roof, a plumbing leak, or a drainage leak. Washing with a 10% Clorox solution and letting it dry is commonly used by eradicators.

Try one of those bathroom cleaners that remove mold first. And most importantly, you have to keep the area dry. Moisture is the #1 cause of recurring mold. Have a fan nearby or open the windows to ventilate the area better.

Mix a small amount of bleach and water in a spray bottle and just spray on the wall. It will disappear within minutes. Or better yet, just purchase a Clorox spray bottle and spray liberally. Quick and easy! Good luck!

Add about a cup of bleach to that soap & water in your bucket. If it returns, you may need to have professionals come in and see if the source is behind the walls.

For myself I'd say, hot bleach water first, then scrub it off. But yes the others are right, bleach is a good mold killer.

Use bleach, baking soda, and water to kill the mold. Be careful of the fumes. Then paint over with stain kill type primer.
