My cat loved it. I'd sprinkle some in a paper bag and leave it on the floor or pour some inside a shallow cardboard box.
Liked to eat it and roll in it!
I'd buy fresh sometimes and feed leaves but that's not as fun, I guess.

When i first got catnip like that i was confused to your cats can eat it or you can rub a pinch of it together over there bed or somewhere My first cat shadow LOVED catnip i left a bag of it on the floor one day the next day i went downstairs where i left the catnip it was ALL over the carpet with a bunch of holes in the bag and my cat was sitting there looking innocent at me.my second cat just ignores it so it kinda depends on your cats preferences

I grow catnip in my garden for my spoiled Siamese lady. Just before it flowers, I cut it back to about 2 inches off the ground, hang the branches to dry and then crumble the leaves. Kitty goes nuts for fresh dried catnip. She even chews on the leaves on the bush. Some cats don't care for catnip though. You can try buying a small bag and putting a little on the floor in front of your kitty's nose and see what happens.

my cat loves to roll around in it. i've had other cats that licked it off of the floor.
be prepared to vacuum wherever you dispense it though. it tracks everywhere.
it's a genetic trait that determines if you cat will respond to catnip or not and this will happen at about 6 months of age.
rolling it it between your fingers releases more of the oils and makes it more fragrant.
catnip is not harmful in any way to the cat. i have a cat that is 15 and has enjoyed catnip all of his life.
cats in the wild seek out catnip to aid digestion.

My cat likes fresh catnip. You can even buy some plants that the cat will eat. Catnip actually aids in the digestion of some food.

Catnip is a harmless herb in the same family as mint. But when it is dried, there are leaves and branches that can be quite sharp. Your cat may have gotten some of these branches in her eye, causing irritation. I guess you could compare it to getting sand in your eye when somebody shakes out their blanket right next to you on the beach. I'm sure she'll be fine. You might want to flush her eye with an eye-wash. I'd just call your vet to make sure that an over-the-counter eye wash for humans is equally safe for a cat. If her eye still appears to be irritated, you should probably take her in for a checkup. Good luck.

I buy cat toys for my two devils that have little pockets in them to put the cat nip. One cat just rubs her head and licks the toy. The other cat carries the toy around, licks the toy and rubs his head over the toy. After, doing this they want to play by chasing me around the house or chasing one another. Some cats don't care too much for catnip while others do. It's a personal preference. The link below is similar to what my cats enjoy their catnip in.

They're supposed to eat loose catnip. It gives them a feeling of euphoric well-being, but it doesn't affect all cats. Even if some cats aren't affected in the "doped up" way, it's still good for their stomachs. A lot of cats love to eat it when their tummies are upset.

I think they are supposed to like the smell. But I have never owned a cat that has shown any reaction to catnip.

RE:
Do you use catnip for your cats?
I have never used it. I know that some cat toys have it but if you buy it loose what do you do with it. Are the cats supposed to eat it or smell it or???
