HI my name is Ron and im an alcoholic--
Does that answer your question?
I attended these meetings when i was younger, but i still drink today, but have it under control. It is only anonymous if you choose it to be that way.We all know that stars like richard clapton, ringo star, mel gibson-and scores of others attended these meetings and rehabilitation centres ,I think half of hollywood ends up at some time visiting the betty ford clinic.

You only say your first name and anonymity is the bedrock of the program. Familiarity is bad for AA members in the long run.

Good point! I've heard AA has no more effect on quitting alcohol than going cold turkey on ones own.

Their first name and that they are an alcoholic. Admitting that one has a problem is the first step in correcting it. A.A. has a confidentiality policy..."what you hear here, stays here." Hope this helps.

When you go to AA, you're supposed to keep the names of the other participants confidental and not talk about their prolems outside of the group.
