I was diagnosed with diverticulitis in April and I need a diet so that I can control my disease so that I won't have any flare ups. Does anyone have good suggestions? Does anyone have any information that can help me on this matter?

You must have a lot of fiber. There is a over the counter medicine called Metamucil, take tablespoon a day, when you wake up in the morning. You must mix it with at least (8 ounces) of water and stir it well. It will give you easier Bowell movements. Go to your search engines and type in Diverticulitis. You should find web sites with the information you need. Good luck with your search and your health.
PS: Please ask your Doctor!!!

My mother had it and could not eat seeds (of any kind, in any thing), or nuts of any kind. No popcorn; no heavy cheeses. and no abrasive foods other than the above. I also believe there was no coffee or colas--but I'm not sure, because my mother never drank either one anyway.
Eliminating the above is not as easy at it might seem--there's a lot of it out there. Certain acidic irritants are on the list, too--like crunchy peanut butter. Probably wine, too, and beer is right out! Sorry to only give you a list of don'ts, but if you eat the wrong food, keep track--because you will know it in 24 hours. B.

NO<.> corn.tomatoes, strawberry's,cucumbers, nothing with seeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, rye bread, with seeds, nuts, walnuts .coffee,Graves, avoid cabbage,coal-slaw-........if you can do this for about 1 year, then you will give your self time to heal.after that time you can take some of your favorite foods and be able to eat them once a week, with no problems or flare ups,but not more then once a week,or you will start putting holes back in you stomach, intestines, lower bowels,,good luck it has worked for me,and no flare ups in 17 years,,,

sorry to answer a question with a question, but have you been tested for diseases that could have diverticulitis as a symptom?

"Hepatitis C" and intestinal diseases such as diverticulitis are common.

Please get tested :o)

It really depends on your triggers - seeds, nuts, greasy foods, soy, etc. Try to avoid the foods that trigger you the most. Eat healthy balanced meals. Talk to your doctor. You may be eligible to see a nutritionist.

I work for a colorectal surgeon. He has his divertic patients increase fiber, and avoid:
Nuts/seeds
Popcorn
Caffeine
Chocolate (sorry)
Cheese
and Citrus products

Raw vegetables can also irritate it.
