For other readers, Mahomet is the Medieval Latin spelling to Muhammad. Don't be so sensitive over the spelling of the name, once it was spelled that way. cool it and grow up.

Muhammad/ Mahomet was born pagan, and he was in searched of the true way to God, or as some would rather say the truth. as so many of us tell the day still do. Muslims remember in the start of his preaching he broke all of the 360 idols in the temple which his family was one of those groups responsible of taking care of! just a clue to his original religion.

Interesting to see a comment that "Islam" never pulled away from its pagan roots" in the feedback here (smile). For that matter Christianity shares the same pronouncement - it never escaped fully from paganism. The concept of the virgin birth was a common idea amongst royalty of Ancient Egypt and can be seen today carved in stone on the monuments at Luxor.Monotheism was born also in Ancient Egypt in the 18th Dynasty under the Pharaoh Akhnaten (husband of Nefertiti). There are other concepts as well but I don't have my library with me to refresh my memory. One also must not forget that Moses was reared and educated in the mystery system of the royal family in ancient Egypt. Where he was enlightened by what is called by Egyptologists (The Negative Confessions) which can be seen in some of the tombs of Ancient Egypt. The Negative confessions are called that because they confirm in the negative the same ideas presented in the ten commandments (ie."I have not killed","I have not stolen from anyone", "I have not committed adultery" and so on. These are presented to the Gods in the after life of the deceased, These can be found in the works called "The Literature of Ancient Egypt" in three volumes.

Pagan. Allah was the god of the local Quarish tribe, which was Mohammed's tribe before he invented Islam to lead his people out of their polytheism. Allah was then known as the Moon God, who had 3 daughters who were viewed as intercessors for the people into Allah. Their names were Al-at, Al-uzza, and Al-Manat, which were three goddesses; the first two daughters of Allah had names which were feminine forms of Allah. Hubal was the chief God of the Kaaba among the other 360 deities. Mohammad disbanned Hubal as the chief God and declared Allah as the one God.

Islam never pulled away from the pagan roots of Islam. That is why you will always see the cresent moon with a little star somewhere in all their literature as well as on every flag of Islamic countries.

First of all, it's Muhammad, not Mahomet (He wasn't a native American you know).

And before Islam he was a Pagan/Non-conformist. He had strong dislike for his religion, and sought a higher truth from a young age.

Mohammed was a Bedouin shepherd.... His first wife was catholic.
Mohammed's father was Abdallah, of the family of Hashim, who died soon after his son's birth. At the age of six the boy lost his mother and was thereafter taken care of by his uncle Abu-Talib. He spent his early life as a shepherd and an attendant of caravans, and at the age of twenty-five married a rich widow, Khadeejah, fifteen years his senior. She bore him six children, all of whom died very young except Fatima, his beloved daughter.

On his commercial journeys to Syria and Palestine he became acquainted with Jews and Christians, and acquired an imperfect knowledge of their religion and traditions.

He was part of a people group with multiple gods so, he was likely a polythiest. He decided to choose one of the pagan gods to be above the rest and chose the moon god, allah. Thus, the crescent moon emblem on top of mosques.
