Yes, and Gnostics do, too. Reincarnation is in The Bible. The churches do not preach about it. Read some of Sylvia Browne's books and educate yourself. She has read every holy book ever written and is a brilliant psychic.

It says in the Old Testament, "It is giving to a man once to die and after that the judgment". Or to put it in modern words, you only go around once. We must each make the most of the time we are giving.
What would be the point of repeating? Especially if you can't remember your previous life? You have a particular personality, mind, soul, call it what you will. You will come up with the same answers every time.
Where in Reincarnation is there any opportunity for progress?
Reincarnation is a Hindu, not Judeo-Christian concept.

The conventional view of reincarnation is that souls cyle through this life over and over and over again. The Hundu religion best exemplifies reincarnation and holds that the deeds in this life determine your status in the next.

The word reincarnation when taken apart, simply means being incarnate again, that is, getting another body of flesh.

Christians do believe that we will be getting another body. Here's the scripture: 1 Cor 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. KJV

We don't, however, believe we'll be getting a body of flesh, so essentially, the answer is "no", we don't believe in reincarnation.

There is, however, a reference to a new heavens and a new earth. So the controversy remains. If our new body is a spiritual one, why do we need a new earth?

I could give you my view, but I'd be somewhat off topic, and far too lengthy for this board.

If they do, they are not real Christians. The Bible does not teach reincarnation. It teaches that once we die, we face judgement, not reincarnation. Reincarnation is a teach that comes from Hinduism and Buddhism. Newer religions have picked it up because they don't want to face the reality of hell and judgment for their sins. Its easier to think you might be able to die and try again... But the Bible certainly does not teach it.

Since the only tenet of Christianity is to accept Jesus Christ as one's Savior, there is no particular reason to believe in reincarnation or not. This simple fact makes Christianity more compatible with other belief systems than many (especially Christians) tend to believe. Surely there must be loads of Christians who believe in reincarnation, especially in populations where such beliefs are commonplace regardless of religious preference.

I have read that the first Christians believed in reincarnation, but afterwards this was taken out of the picture. Probably the Holy Fathers (those ruling the Christ Church) thought this was more harmful than beneficial for the Christians to believe in.

Christianity first taught reincarnation. But people who didn't like
it, took it out. It said in Malachi the last verses that Elijah would return. And none onther than Jesus said he already did as
John the Baptist. It's somewhere in Matthew, I think chapter 11,
and chapter 17. Can't be sure.
It also says in Revelation that John will have to prophesy again before nations and kings.

Possibly, but most mainstream Christian denominations do not. We believe that once you die, you go to heaven or hell (Catholics also believe in purgatory and limbo). God could certainly permit reincarnation... but Jesus never spoke about it. He referred to a "rebirth" of a person... quite different from "reincarnation."

I suspect there is something to reincarnation, and I know there are some Jews who believe in it. But then, I'm not your standard cookie cutter Christian. Not saying that's good or bad, just different.
