The airborne shuffle is a 9 to 9 1/2 minute mile pace. It is a slow run because you are trying to build stamina... not speed. Remember that the early airborne forces (c. 1941-45) have only what they jumped in with and whatever the gliders were able to get in (undamaged) to use. That meant few or no vehicles and long marches usually at "a shuffle pace", to get there quicker than a force march.

The airborne shuffle refers to a slow, short stepped gate while running at an almost walking speed. It's far from fast and really isn't intended to build leg muscles, but more to challenge the mental toughness of a person. It can at times be so grueling to keep "shuffling" at such a slow miserable pace in combat boots that a person dreams of a fast 3 or 4 mile run.

ahh don't worry about them sleep their just the drama queens of the bunch. personally i don't think there's anything to get over, it's done nothing anyone can do will ever change it, grizz and the gang call me a self-hating white but almost 9 times out of 10 it's someone white who brings up slavery almost as if guilty you might say, like they're trying to convince themselves of something. i for one have never actually heard anyone black mention slavery that wasn't about some kind of school project on the subject, i've heard it here but only from some generic cartoon head who as we all know can be any colour. heh i have enough of my own sins to pay for i'm not gonna start borrowing others, as i've said a thousand times before, the dead will always stay dead, the only service they can offer now is by giving us example of what to and not to do. memory should be a guide not a club. the only reason anyone would say "get over it" is if they themselves have something to fear about the subject

As usual you ask an interesting and thought provoking question , Some people do not like to remember aspects of their race that they do not like. Many white people i have met tend to have some form of guilt whenevr slavery is brought up and they resent that fact, it is easier for them to deal with the holocaust because it happened in germany and it has nothing to do with americans really.....and they can deal with native americans because there aren't many native americans left to remind them of what happened but with black people they are forced to deal with it all the time, they see blacks on tv, at their jobs, the very brown color of our skin bears the scars and ugly memories that many americans would rather forget, however the irony is that while many whites would quickly condemn slavery as an inhumane chapter in american history only few of them are actually willing to curb its effects on modern society and that is why they demand that blacks "get over" slavery as if racism and discrmination ended when slavery did.
