Yes, unfortunately I have some family members that are scientologists. I have also spoken to members and ex-members. I have done years of research and read some of LRH's books.

Aside from that though, I never ever meet a scientologist in my normal days, why? Because despite what they claim, there just isn't that many of them, and they are in decline.

You can witness scientologists first hand at this site:
http://www.xenutv.com

This video highlights there behaviour nicely I think:

But check out the other videos too...

And check out the new feature length film about scientology, The Bridge.

Scientology is a destructive cult.

Some critical websites:
http://www.clambake.org
http://www.lermanet.com

http://www.whyaretheydead.net
If these people that died at the hands of scientology had been celebrities, maybe we would have seen the end of this destructive organisation sooner...

On these sites you can find many ex-members testimonials/statements and stories about being in scientology...

'Glass' above is refering to the Lisa McPherson case, where she was taken from a hospital by scientologists, locked in a room for 17 days taking what they call an 'introspection rundown' in appalling conditions and then without food or water. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital they took her too, which was many miles past many other hospitals they could have gone to.

In this answer I gave previously you will find many personal stories from those that were in the cult for varying lengths of time, right up to 30+ years.

There are lots of people involved, but some don't even know they are into Scientology. There is the WISE group which is teaching business principles to people...and it is basically scientology in disguise. Our church meets in a hotel and a group of them meets for their WISE meeting every month. It is a huge orgaization that is out to make LOTS of money taking it from ignorant people who don't know any better than to follow the invented teaches of Ron Hubbard, who believed the best way to make lots of money was to invent your own religion. So He did...and gullible people follow. They showcase the celebrities because they know that star struck Americans will follow them. They are a huge cult!!!

There are other people in this dangerous cult unfortunately. You could look, but I would not want to get too close. There are probably people wherever you live. There are yahoo answers.

Here is some information it will tell you tons of stories about people who are not celebrities who are scientologist or who were.
