I was involved in a bar fight and I was charged with a felony, the guy struck me and I struck him with a glass, unintentional. It was just reduced to a misdemeanor and I have not been convicted yet, I am going to fight it in court. The guy is suing me. Unfortunately I am also applying for jobs (high corporate jobs) does the arrest and the pending misdemeanor/lawsuit show up in my employee HR check? I have not been convicted yet. Does this mistake lead to pain the rest of my life with employees. One place it does appear is in https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/webcrim_attorney/AttorneySearchCase
And it appears as a felony with physical assault. They have not changed it to a misdemeanor.

No, it will not show up on a routine backround (for employer check). Misdemeanors don't show up Felonies DO. If it was reduced to a misdemeanor why does it still show up as a felony. That is the only thing that warrants further investigation. Good luck with all of this dude.

Were you fingerprinted? If so, these go to the FBI in Washington and any employer, who wants to go to all this trouble can get this information. If the charge is reduced to misdemeanor won't pose such a big threat. On employment applications, they normally only ask if you have ever been indicted on felony charges, so your answer of no would be correct.............

It depends on how in-depth the background is, some companies ask you to list what you've been convicted of, and some others ask you to list convictions and both pending criminal and civil cases that you are currently involved in, example: criminal: assault, theft, or civil: divorce, child support, it's not the end of the world, but I would advise you to be forthcoming with your prospective employer and disclose all information out of the gates, because you may be disqualified for "witholding personal information"........the best of luck to you....

It will show up if you are convicted. At lower level jobs no one bothers to check misdemeanors, but the higher up you go the deeper they check.

Were you finger printed? If so, it will show up. It depends on the extent of the backgound check, who runs it and how in depth.

not until you are found guilty, but why are you acting like a p r i c k in the first place, anyone who strikes someone with a glass needs their head looked and placed in prison,
shame on you.

If you have any court record, that isn't sealed, then it is a public record and searchable by those doing a background check.
