If a child were to come after an adult with deadly intent (with a knife) and the Adult had a gun, he already tried to reason with the child to put the knife down, he tried to get the knife away from the child and got stabbed in the leg for his trouble. Now the adult is losing blood and the child is comming in to stab him again. Should he shoot?

the guy cant run he got stabbed in the leg. He cant get in close again to hit the kid over the head because the last time he got close he got stabbed in the leg. the kid is comming after him.. hes supposed to make a phone call?

this question is hypothetical but it does happen in the real world just in a different way. So what should this man do? i still havent gotten any real responses...

The man should just shoot himself. The kid will throw a fit and tell his mommy that the man is not playing fair. If she is a good mother, she will give him a time out.

If the adult was a 'good' guy then yes, most certainly - self defence - but not to kill, just to disable temporarily like through the hand. If the adult was a 'bad' guy, then no, as the child would be doing society a favour. When I use the terms good and bad, I mean whether the atrocities committed by the adult were / would be less or more if he were to live than if the child were to live instead. For example, if the child had been a ten year old girl who intended to kill her stepfather because he had taken Daddy's place and she wanted Mummy to herself after having slaughtered her baby brother already, then yes - shoot her. But if the child had been a ten year old girl repeatedly raped by her 45 year old stepfather, then no, don't shoot and let him bleed to death instead, after all he deserves it in my opinion as jail's too good.

Well, the adult could possibly try and kick the child with his good leg, depending on the size and age of the child, to try and subdue it. I think the decision to use the gun would probably be a last resort, and even then, the adult could shoot the child in a non-critical area so as to temporarily disable him/her. It also depends on how you'll react in a split second, and whether you can consider all of this when your life is on the line.

Hmm. I have a sister who stabbed me once. She is now a respectable and loving sister to me ,whom I love. Should I have let her live? That is an easy answer..yes. Now I also have 5 wonderful nieces and nephews who are great kids too.As far as that scenario you came up with, I think that you do way too much thinking there and I cannot see in any circumstances that hurting a child is beneficial to your own health. Run, hold the kid, any of these things will work wonders.

the adult is disabled from movement and his only option is to shoot and save himself or to not shoot and save the child. i'd say the child had better realize what it feels like to have a hole in his body if he's going to be putting them in other people's body, but hopefully the adult doesn't kill the child in the process, and hopefull the adult can access proper medicare help after they have both been disabled.

The child has to be stopped... I would suggest aiming for his leg, or somewhere to disable him, but not to kill him.
I know this happens sometimes in real life and I pray that I am never faced with that decision.

Shoot the kid in the leg.
If the child were small enough, the guy would have been able to overpower him to begin with, so I have to assume this is not a small child.

No. He should run. Very, very fast. And he should also call the cops, even faster. Oh and he should get everyone out of the house after he's out. NO SHOOTING AT ALL.

what amaizing child !!! always we saw the childern killed by adults without mirci ....so the children is coming , he is only a child alwys adult can manibulating them whithout need for guns

I would shoot to disable and hopefully not kill the child, but if I do, it's self defense.
