I'm not just talking christians here, but all over the world there are people using religion as an excuse to commit violence, to opress and to curtail free thinking and learning. Why do humans feel the need to do that to each other and where's it all heading?

You are saying that Christians are using their faith to "commit violence, to oppress, and to curtail free thinking and learning"? You should report all the Christians you know to the authorities. All the Christians I know, and I know thousands, are against violence, against oppression, promote free thinking, and pursue learning.

It isn't anything new under the sun. It has been happening since the beginning of human existance.

Nothing you can do to change that. The only person you can control on this planet is yourself.

Let that be the start of a new world. There is a song that has religious connotations, but it rings true. Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me. If each one of us consciously practiced that very simple concept, maybe things would be better.

There will always be wars, violence, hate, greed, malice, averice.
But if YOU decide not to join it, and you decide to be peaceful, then you can make a difference.

Good question. My answer to that is, it's the sign of the times coming near. Some people are in denial about this world coming to an end, but if a person doesn't read the Bible, it's understandable, as to why they don't believe things are happening for a reason.

No. It doesn't scare me. It's been foretold by Jesus himself. It does sadden me though that there are so many who claim the be "followers", but don't walk the walk.

That is not restricted to "Christians" by the way. Many "religions" teach as Jesus did that compassion AND forgiveness toward ALL others is the straight and narrow path for us to follow. But He said that few will follow it.

Could you immagine, if all Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sihks, Hindus and others, who all have been given the teachings of compassion and forgiveness, would live up to that? There would be peace on earth!!

Of course, that would not be "good for the ecomnomy"! :-)

Fundamentalists, in all contexts, are scary. It is sad that people engage in "holy wars" in the name of their gods to justify senseless violence and murder. I agree with you not to bash just one religion, such as Christianity, because every religion has fundamentalists, not just the most excepted ones.

Where have you been the past 5k years, this is nothing new.
I refuse to be made fearful by any thing or anyone. Have courage, go about your business and "Fear Not, For I am with you..."

Didn't you know? They are not called ''Fundamentalists'' anymore. They are now known as ''Fascists''. And yes, they do seem to be breeding somewhat rapidly.

I don't think religion has to go, but I agree that fundamentalists are scary.
