This can be a fun and good way of travelling in the supermarket. However if you are doing a big shop you need to make sure you have a spare trolley for food. Also, I don't think age is really a problem, it is more a case of when you can see the wheels start to wobble and your friends are no longer willing to push you around then you know it's time to lose some weight before resuming trolley riding.
I was also thinking this could be a potential way of starting a dating craze, forget speed dating you could try trolley dating. You know how women often 'look at the beautiful baby' in the shopping cart, well this could be an enhancement on the concept.

As you rotate the ridrer and pusher you are being quite proper - don't change.
A person that has a medical excuse may be to old, but as long as they can get in and out - your never too old.
The speed of the ride may change due to age, not the fun.
People will give you the "setting an example" lecture - but your not hurting the equipment or cars in the lot; or crashing the cart into the products making a mess, etc. - then everything is OK. You know people are watching - so understand what your doing, and your adults, so your being responsible for what you do - everything is fine.

Once you become a Sumo wrestler like me then that is when someone is too old to be riding around in a shopping cart...lol
I really like nieceofmissourifats answer to this question. If it was my choice I would have to choose her answer as Best to this question. There is nothing that can surpass that. Bravo for nieceofmissourifats! She is a person who really knows how to let go and enjoy life and I think that is wonderful.

45 1/2 - but after that it is bad form, unless the driver of the cart is less than twelve, then you can up it a year or two--BUT THAT'S ALL!

Someone is too old for the shopping cart when their little legs won't fit in the seat anymore.
You're too old, but way too immature. So maybe you qualify.'
