Here Sweetie, just look at this list, look up which state you're in, and it has a toll-free number for information on applying for WIC: http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/Contacts/tollfreenumbers.htm

*frowns and wags her finger at the insulting people* You should be ashamed of yourselves. You wouldn't want anyone being a jerk to you, if you needed something.

Oh, sweetie, you could have been on wic from the time you had a doctor's proof of pregnancy.

Check your Local phone book. Sometimes it is under the government pages, sometimes in the white business pages. Some times listed as W.I.C other times Women Infants Children

There are economic guidelines, but since you are 17 I feel pretty secure that you will meet the requirements. Call and make an appointment. Normally, they will need proof of pregnancy, either a pay stub or if you are in school report card, utility bill in your name or your driver's/Picture ID. But when you call they will send you a letter or tell you over the phone what you will need to bring.

Good Luck with your baby!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm sure you will got a lot of answers saying that you shouldn't have kdis if you can't afford them. That's NOT the only way to qualify for wic though. You qualify either financially or nutritionally. I recieved wic with BOTH my children. My fiance makes good money but because I had health problems with both my pregnancies, I qualified. You need to go to your local wic office. Sometimes they are located in the department of family services and sometimes they're located in their own building. You'll have to take a proof of income, your social security card, AND a proof of pregnancy. Your doctor will give you the proof of pregnancy to take in. If you qualify nutritionally, you'll have to take proof of the reason you qualify nutritionally. Good luck.

You're 17. Your parents will have to sign up for wic for you. You have to be 18 to recieve it. So, everything I just said will have to be done with your parents.

If you have a medicare card you already qualify and you just have to show them two things that shows you are a U.S. Citizen like a bill of some kind and a check stub.

If you dont have a medicare card then you have to show how much you make a month and they will determine if you qualify or not. And if you do you have to show them 2 things that show you are a U.S. Citizen.

Then the day they tell you if you qualify or not they will give you food coupon things for 3 months and your all set. And they make an appointment for you to take a 20-30 min. class before your coupons run out to give you more.

call your local wic and set up a appointment they will send you the papers to fill out and take with you. You will need a proof of income on that day as well! IT IS EASY AS 1-2-3!

Call your Department of Human Services in your area. They can tell you where your WIC department is. Then you make and appointment. They will ask you for your proof of income, address, SS cards, and ID cards for everyone in the household. They take all the information and determine if you qualify.

You can go to www.ask.com and enter the question "Guidelines for WIC in the state of _____________" and then put your state in. It will tell you the income guidelines and give you the phone # of the closest WIC office. As far as the bonehead above....Ignore that jerk. My sister and brother in law both worked and they still qualified for WIC!
