If a couple had a verbal argument about bills. and the Wife slaps the husband. The husband gets angry enough over this to Slap the wife back. Since he is stronger by far physically. He ends up leaving a bruise on his wife's cheek. Is the husband at fault for this altercation? should he be thrown in jail for it? is the wife culpable in anyway for this happening?

I don't believe either of them is right. No one has the right to hit another person.

Most women figure that if they slap the man/husband he should be able to endure it. They have such a one sided attitude. No the man is not at fault for this . She started the meaness. She is the one who should be put in jail. She took the first swing. No he should not have been thrown in jail for defending himself. Now days it is equal treatment. With some of these women, they can be so mean. Instead of her becoming a jail bird, she has turned her man into one. Domestic abuse. There are more women who get the men in trouble. Very seldom, does a man turn a women in for hitting him. These women hide behind the law and then afterwards realize how they have hurt their man. I'll bet the first thing she did was call the cops. My daughter-in-law is a spit fire. She is mean to the core and then when her husband tries to defend himself , by slapping her back, she calls the cops and the poor man goes to jail. If this happens more then twice, then next time she hits, you. LEAVE HER. Let her pay her own bills.

So... you were immature and could not restrain your emotions as most adults are expected to be able to do. Take the consequences of your actions and next time act like a responsible adult. Don't insult your wife and she won't slap you in the first place. The Bible tells husbands to love their wife as Christ loved the church and died for it. But it also says that wives are to be submissive to their husbands. That means she is to let you take charge of things and be responsible. If you are a good money manager..do it...and do it fairly. If you are a spender...let her do it. Sounds like you both need some good spiritual counseling....and some maturity. See a pastor

I think he was very foolish and stupid in stooping to her level and again for not knowing his own strength. If the wife presses charges, to jail he goes. That's the law. The wife is just plain stupid. And they could both use some training and/or council in how to effectively communicate.

I think there is more to the story than you are telling. He would not be arrested unless someone made a call and pressed charges....... or there have been other abuse calls in the past?
There are women out there that will antagonize a man until he becomes violent. They are both sick and feed off each other for their sick gratification.

It depends on many factors you haven't mentioned. Is there a history of abuse on either side? Is he mentally disturbed? Could he have just stopped her from slapping him in the first place. There are a lot of things to take into consideration...

They should both go to jail. Here in Arizona if one party calls the police and they find out both did the hitting they both go to jail.

Neither should resort to physical violence. Both should get in trouble. The man should have enough self control to resist the temptation, and not hit girls. That's dispicable.

Never hit anyone unless you expect to get hit back. I think they both should be put in jail for domestic violence on each other.
