You are absolutely correct. It is not about following rules and regulations. It is about living a life of relationship to Jesus Christ. It is one out of gratitude and love for what He did for us.
Just as a child with his parents, or a spouse to their mate wish to live a life that pleases the other, so too the Christian with their Lord. We don't willfully commit the sins that bound us in the past because we know it would displease Him.
When that affection wanes, sometimes a Christian will try rule following as a way to get back, but that degenerates into legalism. It is a work of the flesh. Back to the relationship idea, we are restored to a right relationship with Christ when we confess honestly to Him what we did to fall away. Our spouses don't want us to follow rules to have a proper relationship, they want love and honesty. When that happens in our relationship with Christ, communion and fellowship are then restored. That's what makes it grace.

Romans 3.31 how do you then Establish the law if it is ended? Whats the point? Studied much on Martin Luther? He had some issues you might be able to identify with.
James 2.12
James 2.14-18
Oh brother there are so many scriptures...do you want a study on this? Both sides of the story? dont make me look up all these resources for nothing. I can take either side but you must listen to Christ in your own heart to Know the Truth. Seek and ye shall find....but once you stop seeking...there goes your hope of finding it...
So are you right wing or left wing? What are you going to do with only one wing? How will you fly?

Yes, Jesus put an end to the law:
Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.
Colossians 2:14 He wiped out the written Law with its rules. The Law was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross.
Galatians 2:16 We know that no one is made right with God by obeying the law. It is by believing in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus. That is so we can be made right with God by believing in Christ, not by obeying the law. No one can be made right with God by obeying the law.
Galatians 2:21 I do not get rid of the grace of God. What if a person could become right with God by obeying the law? Then Christ died for nothing!
Galatians 5:4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace.
Matthew 5:17-18 Says Jesus didn't come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. It ALSO LOOKS FORWARD to the time when IT WOULD BE DESTROYED.
Matthew 5:17 “Do not think I have come to get rid of what is written in the Law or in the Prophets. I have not come to do that. Instead, I have come to give full meaning to what is written. 18 What I’m about to tell you is true. Heaven and earth will disappear before the smallest letter disappears from the Law. Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the Law until everything is completed.
-- If the law were not to be set aside, the "until everything is completed" clause is meaningless.

I'm not sure what you mean by "carry out the law". Do you think we should allow child molesters and murderers go free? Even the Bible states that offenders of the law should be tried and then punished. Jesus will judge who enters the kingdom of heaven. He will write the names in the Book of Life. We must still abide by the laws on earth and ensure that justice is served for wrong doing. We do not, however, have the right to judge who will enter the kingdom of the Lord. We can only state what we know from the Bible.

The same person who wrote your quote also wrote that he would not know what sin was if it wasn't for the law. This verse in no way says that the law is done away with it simply says that the means of accomplishing the righteousness of the law is no longer done by trying to follow the law but is done by the grace of God living in us which gives us the power to accomplish the law and live righteously. We now have the power to obey he law which the Old Testament saints never had.

If you take a concordance and look up that word "end" you will discover that it means "goal or fullfilment" not "termination". Christ is the perfect example of righteousness as exemplified in the 10 commandments therefore Christ is the perfect fullfilment of the 10 commandments. Christ is our example. We should be like Jesus Christ and keep the 10 commandments.
"The law is holy, just (righteous), and good."

"If you love me keep my commandments." John 14:15
“What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law but grace? God forbid” Romans 6:15
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we ESTABLISH the law. Romans 3:31
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Romans7:7
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that KEEP the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that DO his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
you don't keep them to be saved you keep them because you love Jesus
"The next time a preacher tells you the law is done away with, just go to his church and break the eighth commandment and steal his offering and you'll find out real quick the law is not done away with."

According to Romans 7:1 someone is under the law as long he lives. We also know that we have been put to death with Christ and are therefore no longer under the law. As we exhibit our love for God and other we will keep the law, as love is a fulfillment of the law.
The law is still here but Christians aren't under it anymore.

He is the end of the law, not the beginning, nor the middle of the law!
As to the law, if you sinned you would have to sacrifice unto the law for sin, Christ is our sacrifice, now and forever!
The Law is still in effect!
