tell your orthadontist, maybe this is something you can't fix.

Take it to your dentist/orthodontist. They will put it in a special cleaning solution. Sounds like tartar. It naturally builds up on the teeth over time, and since your retainer is in your mouth all the time, it gets the tartar too. Once they clean it for you, clean it at home at least once a day( more if possible) to help keep it clean. Ask them for a "denture brush" it is a stiff bristled brush that is stronger than your toothbrush that you can use only on the retainer- not in your mouth. Never try to do adjustments on it at home- it can get so bent you'll need a new one.

Get either some type of Listerine or denture cleaner and put the retainer in it. It works for mine anyway, but if you have a clear retainer any colored Listerine will turn it that color for a day or so

Try soaking it in mouthwash for a few minutes. If it's really stubborn dirt, you can take it to a dentist who has a certain machine that can clean retainers rather well.

There is actually a denture medication the you can soak you retainers in there for about twenty min. and it is like brand new.

Try soaking it in hydrogen peroxide. If it is dirt, it will bubble off. Otherwise, take it to your orthodontist so he can advise you. Good luck. Always wear your retainer!!!!
