Yes,there is more than one way to do this.

Well, first lets look at what you are doing.
May be your going to Alaska and will be taking with you a
.416 Rem. Mag rifle and for a pistol a .44 mag. or a .454 Casull .
Maybe you are going deer hunting with a 30-30 and want to bring
your .357 along.
Maybe you are going pig hunting and want to bring a pistol in
case you get an opportunity for a close shot, and the rifle because
you can always score with it.
In any case consider the bottom enter / exit shoulder holster.
Worn under the left arm for a right hander, the grip of the pistol
presents itself at aprox 15 deg, muzzle is back tilted.
This type of holster retains the handgun in two or more ways.
First, spring steel built inside the holster, keeps tension on the
handgun holding it in place.(Not for the outdoors / field).
Second,a "Thumbreak" type holds the hand gun securely in the
holster and when "Thumbed" allows the handgun to smoothly
come into play.
I suggest you purchase a wellmade holster,like an "Alfonso's"
Or equal. Good Luck!

Why, other than illegal reasons, would someone want to do that?
