I got a certified letter today but they didn't knock and now I have to wait until Monday to receive it. Can this be anything good or is it definately bad news?

Has anyone ever sent or received certified mail that was good?

YES, think of a lottery prize or an admission to a competitative school/program. And valuables shipped by USPS that are highly insured. Sometimes certified mail is still junk mail from some aggressive marketer! If you're nervous to accept it, can go to the post office & ask who it's from. Even if it's not on the box or letter, if it's certified, the bar code the postal worker pulls up will say who it's from. You don't need take possession or even touch it. You are allowed to refuse delivery without signature. Like you never knew about it.

Certified mail is just a letter that needs a signature. If it had value, it would be sent Registered.
There is a spot on the paper the mailman left that will tell you who sent it.

Certified mail is useful whenever you need to know that someone received something. If someone sends something valuable, it's always a good idea to send it that way.
