Oftentime, opposites DO attract...but they sure as hell don't live together very well.

I think that opposites attract to a point: you are attracted to the opposite because of the new and exciting beliefs, and the things that you can learn. But ultimately, when it comes down to a real, meaningful relationship, too many opposite beliefs cause heartache. Similarity in needs, desires, and choices will lead to the ultimate happiness because each will know how to support the other better.

I THINK THAT PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR CHOICES AND NEEDS GET ALONG VERY WELL TOGETHER. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU HAVE TWO INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE OPPOSITES, YOU HAVE A COMPLETE BALANCE IN MY OPINION. MOST OF THE TIME YOU ALL CAN TEACH NEW THINGS TO EACH OTHER THAT WILL GIVE YOU EXPOSURE TO A NEW WAY OF THINKING AND LIVING.
I FEEL THAT IT GIVES YOU A WHOLE NEW OUTLOOK ON LIFE WHEN YOU ARE DEALING WITH A PERSON THAT HAS DIFFERENT INTERESTS. ALSO, IF YOU'RE DEALING WITH SOMEONE THAT IS EXACTLY LIKE YOU, THEN HOW ARE YOU TO BE A SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR HIM OR HER IF BOTH OF YOU HAVE THE SAME STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
SO...I THINK THAT OPPOSITES DO ATTRACT, BUT IT'S THE SIMILARITIES THAT WILL KEEP YOU TOGETHER.

I think opposites do attract, but do they last? Not generally. There needs to be some core likenesses, ideas, ideals, values, upbringing, those kind of things in the end seem to be what will make or break a couple. I do think being opposites in some area's are definitely attractive, and not bothersome, and sometimes make things more interesting (i.e.) he's a sloppy republican, I'm a neat freak, liberal, it's great.

i think that i would have trouble getting very well along with someone that was opposite me in very many ways. i need someone a little different than me so that i can learn things from them and we can get to know new things about each other. someone that had all the same opininons as me mite b kind of annoying!! i want someone with similar needs, but yet still an individual person that has their own interests that i mite not really enjoy, because i like learning new things. so basically...i'd go with different.

Differences bring new perspectives and excitement to a relationship. But, new relationships don't stay new forever.
A healthy mix of differences and compatibilities is needed.
If two persons seem like opposites at first, they are probably better couple candidates. Because, eventually, they find out they are much more alike than they ever realized.

I think that opposites attract means girls are attracted to boys. I think that people with similar interests, goals, morals, belief systems have a better chance of making their relationships succeed. Girl who likes to play outside will do good with boy who plays outside. However some diversity is good and opens horizons and leads to more interests. Perhaps girl who plays outside likes to go sailing but boy who likes to play outside likes to go bike riding...this opens a new interest for each of them as long as they are willing to try new things and aren't obsessive about their activities. Catch my drift? Overall compatability with some underlying diversity.

i believe it is the complete other way around. positives attract.
i think people want to have a good strong releationship you want to find someone who is so much similar to you in your intrests and needs that they are practically your mirror image as the opposite gender. i think if that were to happen, a pretty solid relationship would occur.

Opposites attract only because one partner is weak in one area and the other partner is strong in another area. They compliment each other
