still cant make up my mind cos i love all the suggestions including red velvet (sounds lush). Reds definitely seems to be in the majority.

Velvet for winter, you have a choice of BLUE velvet or RED satin? then the blue velvet, I would have RED VELVET, if it was possible. The most beautiful winter gown I ever saw was a deep rich red velvet, stunning,!!!!!

If you are stick thin and have no, erm, bulges, then wear the satin and knock them dead at the risk of looking sleazy.
Blue velvet would be more forgiving and is more tactile. Depends on what you look like and what you want to look like. If you get my drift.
Red is a hard colour to carry off well.

Blue represents cold, while red represents hot. So wear the red satin dress, and you would look HOT! After all, you would want to look good for the dance. Am I right?

If you have a tanned complexion, go with the satin red with matching lipstick. However, if you have fairer skin, the blue will look better.

Either would look wonderful. Why not get the opinion of a good friend who would advise you on what colour brings the best out in you. From your name "redrobin" do I get a hint that you truly do like red.
Red is a very popular colour in the winter so blue would help make you look different to everyone else.
