Hi there,
I have just got mortgage and hopefully will be moving to my first house in couple of months.
While I was applying for mortgage, I used a mortgage broker who didn't know the rules very well. His firts application was declined because I am not Britisih ( I have work permit in UK).Anyway he found another company how agreed to give the mortgage for high interest of course (5.70% for two years fixed and 6.74% for the term)
Now my credit report is Fair (Score is 387 points at Equifax). But I am planning to get some stuff from DFS or Furniture Village with 3 year interest free credit. Do you think this credit scorte will cause any problem with these companies? I don't want to be embarrassed in front of the salesman if they refuse my application :)
Thanks in advance.

I had a way worse credit record than you, and we got finance at DFS.

At the end of the day, the salesman doesnt get informed why credit is refused, so if it does get refused, dont be embarrased, just say that it must be becasue you just got your mortgage, and leave it at that. They have no way of knowing your personal financial record, they simply get a yes or no on a computer screen.

I think you will be fine for credit at the stores, you will be a home owner, that raises your credit score.
