I started letting my son trick or treat in groups when he was around 10.
Now that he is 16, he and his friends are probably more likely to need parental supervision, if you know what I mean...

In this day and age, by the time they are old enough to go out without supervision, they are probably too old to trick or treat.

I quit going at age 11, and if my parents weren't with me I was with my older siblings (My brother was 20). Kids tend to get into trouble if not supervised, especially if their friends are trying to talk them into something. Also with all the pedophiles out there I would NEVER let my child out alone! It's just asking for trouble.

I think it depends...on your neighbor hood, how many kids will be with them, how late will the be out, do they have access to a cell phone, how far do the plan on going. But most important do you feel comfortable with them going with out a parent. How mature are your kids, do you think they are old enough. In the end it is up to you. You know whats best for your kids and whatever you feel the most comfortable and safe with then I would go with the choice.

I think it really depends on how mature the children are. I think I will probably let my children go alone around the age of 10 as long as they stick together, and give them a phone so they can call if something happens.

depending on the neighborhood, a group of a couple 13 year olds is probably safe, so long as you're also out and about, just not right there with them.

Any time children are unsupervised there can be problems, especially on a night that is known for mischevious conduct among minors.

It depends on how safe your neighborhood is. It also depends on how long they plan to be out.

I would say in a relatively safe neighbohood, if your child is out with a GROUP of friends (at least 4-5 kids). Then age 12-13.

I would say to have them be at least 12. Pretty much if they can stay home or alone or take care of themselves they are ok. Different kids have different maturity levels so use your best judgement. I would probably send them off with a cell phone and flashlight just in case.

Once you're too old too need parental supervision, you're too old for trick or treating. Seeing teenagers going around begging for candy is just sad.
